Students must be currently enrolled at the school they are representing.
No student will be allowed to participate in two competitions during the same year.
Age requirements:
MS Competition:
14 years or younger by Aug. 1, 2024 – born on Aug. 1, 2010 or later
Junior Competition:
16 years or younger by Aug. 1, 2024 – born on Aug. 1, 2008 or later
Senior Competition:
Any school age.
No mathematical equipment, mobile phones, calculators of any type may be brought into competitions.
Students are allowed the use of a translating dictionary either in book form or electronic.
In the Sunday Chase GDC’s and smart phones to get maps are allowed.
Teams will consist of 3 persons.
Schools will normally bring 1 or 2 teams.
Reserves will be combined with reserves from other schools.
Questions will require critical thinking skills, creative insight, lateral thinking, problem solving and logic from topics traditionally taught to students in any course in school.
The individual contest will consist of 40 or 50 multiple choice questions each with 4 possible answers (May slightly change). For MS, three sets of questions with 20 each. (Also may slightly change)
The questions will be distributed in 8 or 10 sets of 5 questions
Students will be allowed 10 minutes for each set of questions with a warning after 8 minutes.
Scoring will be as follows:
Correct answer = 4 marks
No answer = 1 mark
Incorrect answer = 0 marks
The team competition will consist of 18 questions.
Questions will be distributed in 6 sets.
Students will be allowed 15 minutes for each set of questions with a warning after 13 minutes.
